Breather components and their tasks.

Plastic housing (A): Protects the inner workings of the adsorber. The disposable plastic housing is durable and UV-resistant.

3µm paper filter (C): Filters finest dust and dirt particles from supply air and thus protects the system from getting filthy.

GIEBEL Xdry® (D): Ensures effective drying of the air flowing through and indicates by changing color from orange to green when it is time to replace the adsorber.

Foam filter disk (F): Filters coarse dust and dirt particles from the supply air.

Opening (G): Enables air exchange with the environment when the system draws in or pushes out air for pressure equalization.

Adapter (F): Connects system and breather dryer. Adapter are separately available.

ADSORPTION PROCESS:
If the oil level in the system drops, air flows in to equalize pressure. This air enters the breather via the openings (E) and flows through a foam filter disk (D), which separates larger dirt and dust particles. The silica gel filling (C) then separates moisture up to 2% RH (average 10% RH). A 3μm paper filter (B) removes even the finest dirt and dust particles from the supply air.

Dry and clean air enters the system.

DESORPTION PROCESS:
If the oil level rises, air is pressed out of the system. Some of the previously adsorbed moisture is removed from the desiccant as the air flows out, ensuring cyclical self-regeneration.

How to interpret the color of your breather dryer.

Unloaded

The breather dryer is completely orange in color.

This means that it has adsorbed little or no moisture so far.

Loaded from above

The breather dryer is green at the top and orange at the bottom.

This means that the adsorber has mainly dried the outgoing air. There was a high level of moisture in the system.

Loaded from below

The breather dryer is orange at the top and green at the bottom.

This means that the adsorber has mainly dried the incoming air. The system is reliably protected.

Fully loaded

The breather dryer is completely green.

This means it is time to replace the adsorber or desiccant. The adsorber has reached its maximum absorption capacity!
